I would love to see that the pay of Congressmen and Senators be dictated by the States they serve. Their pay is directly related to their performance. “Mr. Congressman, you decided to support a bill that the people of this state did not support, therefore your pay has been reduced by 10% “or “Congratulations! You really know the wishes of the people of your state! You get a 10% bonus!” Imagine if one’s pay was directly proportional to their performance…it might be like they actually had real jobs where performance mattered!
Furthermore, I do not understand the lifetime benefits that one receives for serving in congress or the Senate. Last time I checked, this was a sacrifice that people who wanted to help their nation participated in. How does giving lifetime benefits support this idea?
